A Thought to Ponder

Do the potatoes that you buy in the store seem to keep getting smaller? To me it seems so. Now if you want the large potatoes, you have to buy them individually, like they are an exotic item. I lived on a farm, when I was much younger, and our main staple was potatoes. As you can see in this photo, we grew 'em big. The potato on the right was an eatin' tater. The one on the left was used as seed for the next year's crop. And some of the middle ones were cut in half and used as seed also.

So what are they doing these days with the big potatoes? What an awesome baked potato that would make, yea?! Makes you kinda say "Hhmmmmmmmmmmm....." doesn't it? Or maybe, "Mmmm!!!"

hey, what's that 1st comment you'd approved? sorry, but i think it's some kinda ad for positions in a hotel... (pls don't mind my being nosy!)

i don't know much about potatoes but the US potatoes i find these days in the supermarket are sometimes very small, compared to those grown in Indonesia, for instance. Interesting 'food for thought'.

now that is funny. I translated it and it says "hotel broker hotel" about eight times with just a couple of other words in between. Strange!

Although each line seems to be a link to different websites, some ads, some blogs, etc. Can't figure out how to delete it.

I expect that the really big potatoes goe to commercial operations where they are turned into frozen fries for places lik Mcdonalds. Have you ever noticed how long most of the fries are? Especially when you see the potatoes in the grocery store. Bigger potatoes mean less peeling, less waste, smaller potatoes mean more peeling, more waste. Busineses aren't stupid.
